Mundu, Cirebon
This project supported the development of a prototype breakwater using Geotube technology at Mundu Beach, Cirebon. REKA supplied and installed a flocculant dosing system to improve sludge dewatering performance before geotube filling. The system was engineered to enhance solid-liquid separation efficiency under coastal working conditions. Installation and commissioning were carried out with a strong focus on operational reliability, process efficiency, and site adaptability.
Project Objective
The primary objective of this project was to improve sludge dewatering efficiency to ensure optimal geotube filling quality. Proper flocculant dosing was applied to produce stable sludge solids, reduce free water content, and enhance the structural integrity of the geotube-based breakwater.
Project Scope
1. Engineering & System Design
Assessment of sludge characteristics and dewatering requirements
Selection of a suitable flocculant type and dosing capacity
System design tailored to the geotube breakwater application
2. Supply & Installation
Supply of dosing pumps, solution tanks, and control components
Installation in coastal and open-field working conditions
Integration with existing sludge dewatering operations
3. System Setup & Optimization
Adjustment of dosing rates based on sludge properties
Optimization of floc formation for effective solid-liquid separation
Prevention of overdosing and underdosing during the operation
Key Outcomes
Improved sludge dewatering efficiency
Reduced free water content before geotube filling
More uniform and efficient geotube filling process
Enhanced strength and stability of geotube-filled material
Improved overall effectiveness of the breakwater structure
